During a workshop on investment and fundraising with the Purple Prize 2020 cohort, we covered topics ranging from grants and philanthropy to regulation crowdfunding (RegCF).

Over the next few weeks we’ll be releasing some of the key takeaways from the workshop. This week: “Fundraising is hard!” with Bella Hughes and Harrison Rice, co-founders of Shaka Tea.

Here are our key takeaways….

  • Get mentors: they may end up becoming your investors!
  • A good fundraiser has:

💙 Strong EQ

🤝 Relationships

💪🏽 Resilience

📖 Authenticity

👩🏽 Relatability

  • Harrison’s 5-tiered Philosophy:
      1. Be good.
      2. Have fun.
      3. Be consistent.
      4. Always compete.
      5. Know that you’re going to win.
